Trimming the Tree

As soon as we got home from the game, we immediately began putting lights on the tree. Only took a few breaks for zurberts, flips, and hugs and kisses!
We each put our first ornament on the tree....all four of us have thin metal ornaments that were given to us and engraved with our names from Things Remembered ( or someplace like that). Alaric took great pride in his placement.
Amara pointed to where she wanted hers.
Then we took a break for hot chocolate!
Sissy, covered in hot chocolate and candy cane goo spends a few minutes observing from the rocking chair! The kids didn't last long with helping us. What they did last FOREVER at was two of Brian's train ornaments from when he was a little boy. Amara took hers everywhere and was riding it over all sorts of different toys.
Alaric was much more focused. He had his in the back of one of his trucks with his name ornament from last year ( a front loader truck) pushing it.
Alaric got to help Daddy put the bow on the tree.
Mara takes it all in
Our beautiful tree!!! The house is finally finished and now we can really enjoy it all!
When it was time for Alaric to go to bed, he picked his Advent wrapped book from his basket and headed for the couch. I asked him if he'd like to sit in the rocking chair by the light of the Christmas Tree. You'd think I had given him a candy bar. He was elated. Even better. The book he opened tonight was his very favorite....Polar Express!!!! He went running in to tell Daddy what book he opened. He spelled all the letters in the title and was so excited to tell Daddy where he got to read tonight. We snuggled together in the chair, looked at the tree and read the most beautful book! What simple pleasures that make this season so extra sweet!
