Trip to Great Grandma's!!

Brian had two days off Monday and Tuesday so we headed to Coal City for a much needed visit with Grandma Fulton, Aunt Mary and Uncle George, and Uncle Tommy.

On our way up Rt 47, we saw the most amazing site-wind turbines EVERYWHERE!!!! Of course we've all seen wind turbines before however there were HUNDREDS OF THEM. They were so close to the road AND not one of them was there for our last trip up this way in late May. it was a beautiful site and Alaric was thrilled to learn about them

look closely at this picture. That's ONE propeller of a wind turbine on the back of a semi truck- a really big semi truck. Puts the magnitude of these massive beasts in perspective.

Special treats for everyone. Great Gram got the kids dry erase activity boards.
Tried to take a pic of the kids in their cute outfits but Alaric said there would be no pics without Scoop in them- we compromised!

Just hanging out! It's so nice making visits with family when you have nothing to do and no comittments. We just hung out, played on the floor, snuggled, and relaxed!
You all know my kids are cute but LOOK AT THEM!!!! She could melt anyone's heart.
Alaric has been inspired by his Aunt Anita. Heis Bob the Builder Plastic phone has turned into his I-Phone. He wanted it everywhere with him, including bed. He talked constantly about the music he could play and the videos he could watch on it.
Great Gram and Mara play peek-a-boo!
Aunt Mary and Uncle George and Marian all brought gifts to spoil the kids. HEre Aunt Mary hands out the treats.
Alaric got his first 60 piece puzzle- it's a John Deere puzzle. Mara kept throwing herself on the floor after we'd get just a few pieces together.

Uncle Tommy says he's a tough guy but he's a softy and the kids love him. Here he teaches Mara how to do knuckles....even cuter was Mara showing Great Gram how to do it.
Great Gram ready Al a bedtime story
The kids woke up and spread out their sleeping bag to watch TV in the morning.
Uncle Tommy got each kid a pure silver coin and some cash for their piggy banks
While Mara took her morning nap, Alaric put together his new puzzle- he did so well and was so proud. We had to call Aunt mary and Uncle George as soon as we completed it.
It was cold out but so sunny so we headed outside for some fresh air and some snack. Amara loves her fall gear.
Bri played catch with the kids in the front yard.
Amara ran up and down the driveway....
Into Daddy's arms!
Then we walked across the street to explore the firehydrant.
Great Gram took us around Coal City and showed us the new Fire station....of course we HAD to get out and look at the bright ORANGE trucks- something new for us all! Both kids loved it!
Alaric was in heaven
Look at those happy faces.

We looked in the window and were SO impressed!

The station had 13 orange vehicles- big, cool, unique
One more shot before we had to leave.
After lunch we all had icecream. Uncle Tommy helped Amara were her orange sherbert.
We had such a relaxing trip and it was so nice to get some quality time with the fam!

The pic of you, Alaric and Amara is adorable. You look beautiful! And the one where amara is hugging Bri made me tear up a bit.
