Emmie turns 6!

Alaric's friend Emmie ( her brother is the same age as Alaric) had her 6th birthday party today. it was a carnival at the Forest Preserve. It was amazing!

Emmie's mom, Cara, made incredible decorations!

Amara's first taste of cotton candy! They had a cotton candy machine, popcorn machine, snow cone machine, and nacho's! Plus crafts to make too!
A little bouncie house just for Mara!

A clown came to do games, stories, magic, facepainting, and balloons!

Alaric and Jackson both want to be the muscle man!
Cara and I didn't mind playing the parts!
Look at the amazing face painting and balloon designs- that's Arial for The Little Mermaid!
Alaric wanted a dump truck. it ended up looking more like a school bus or a yellow wagon but he thought it was cool.

Amara stood at the base of the big bouncie house and just cried because she couldn't get in- it was so sad.
Finally, just minutes before we left, the house cleared out enough for me to ask the high school helper to take Amara. She was in heaven!
It was a blast. Emmie gave character kites as favors and Alaric got a Lightning McQueen kite- you'd think he'd died and gone to heaven.
We went straight from the party to our friend Polly's house for playtime and dinner. I made brownies and tator tot casserole earlier today to share and Polly made chicken salads for us. The kids played, we ate, Amara fussed. I even got two girly Mojitos down and had the chance to sit for almost 20 minutes today- not a bad day!
It's 8:30PM and Brian is still at work- more than 12 hours after he left this morning. It's the Allerton Barn Music Festival AND one of the biggest wedding weekends of the year. We won't see him for more than a few hours until Tuesday. Days like this that we have FUN stuff going on I miss him the most. He's incredible though and his kids miss him desperately and we all just can't wait for him to walk in the door! Happy Saturday everyone!

What an awesome party. Bummer Bri had to miss it. Wish we didn't have to work ever again....
