A visit to Coal City

Brian's Aunt Mary fell and shattered her hip and is recovering in a nursing home so today we headed up to Coal City to spend some time with Great Gram, Uncle Tom, Aunt Mary, and Uncle George.

The kids were wonderful and loved playing with Gram's piano.
This huge bird atrium with a dozen tiny birds was right outside Aunt Mary's room.
We went to visit twice that day- in the morning and in the afternoon. We made her cards in the morning.
And in the afternoon we spuced up her room with pictures on the walls, cards, and artwork from the kids. Luckily she will only be in a few more weeks before she can go home. Nursing homes are a depressing place- especially for people as vibrant and capable as Aunt Mary. if you are looking to make a difference, I challenge you to visit a nursing home, make cards or bring flowers to the residents. They love it and they NEED it!
We had our meals at Gram's house
And had a wonderful time catching up with the family!
