An update on Advent

Advent is going so well around here...like clockwork, the kids get up and search for their Elf on the Shelf. Then they run to show Daddy where it moved to today...then they run to the living room and open their advent book,(which we have been reading during breakfast), then they run to the calendar to see what the pocket has in store. Each day we also talk about how advent is the time of waiting and anticipation for the birth of Jesus.

Sometimes the pocket in the calendar has a piece of candy or a note to dance to their favorite Christmas song or maybe to have an extra Christmas book read to them right that second. Today's were these window jels that are squishy and see through and they cling to the window. I got them for 10 cents each after Christmas last year. What I thought would be a fun little thing has turned into one of their favorite Christmas activities. They immediately went to the window and put them up and anytime you can see the kids arranging and re-arranging their window decorations. The first time they did it, they both played independently AND together for TWENTY MINUTES!! Not bad for 20 cents!

Another special treat from the advent calendar told the kids they each got to have red and green sprinkles on their toast- YUM!!!
