Dan's Gig

Last night, Brian and I got a babysitter to see my brother, Dan play his last gig of the year at a local bar in Urbana. Dan plays Baritone Saxophone for the Parkland College Jazz/Big Band. He loves it! Baritone is not Dan's specialty but he's enjoyed the opportunity and loves playing sax on a regular basis.

The gig was from 7-9PM but Veronica got to come anyway- she needed to cheer on her daddy! After one of his solo's, she yelled " Yeah Daddy!" and the whole club oohed and aahed.

The bar was small and the band was loud. V spent alot of time with her hands over her ears until she got used to it.
We knew Dan would have a few solos throughout the night but we had no idea one song would almost soley be dedicated to him...he started the song, finished it by himself and had nice accompaniment from the band throughout. He was amazing!
At intermission, he greated his many adoring fans!
We couldn't pass up the opportunity to take a picture of ourselves ( we are so good at it)
The band is SO diverse. They had a professional trumpet player, middle aged folks, super old folks and super young kids too. The sax player second from the left is an EIGHTH grader. The Bass player is a Freshman! They were incredible to watch.
One of Dan's solo's in one of the songs...not his big song but still a great one!
So proud of you, Dan!
