So, with concerns about the liver hovering over us, Brian has been given some pretty strict orders to stop drinking, start a very healthy diet, and lose some weight. While we think we eat better than most Americans and we know we are in better shape than most, we obviously still have some work to do. And if Brian is exhibiting signs of diabetes or of a fatty liver that's not working right- we need to make some changes.
Last night, in a pretty normal Fulton Friday fashion, we had pizza. But instead of ordering it or throwing in a frozen pizza, we headed to the store and bought a crust, had turkey pepperoni and low fat cheese. We also ate a salad with it and had water instead of beer or soda. Today we are going to the Illini game. Usually we get hotdogs and a pretzel smothered in cheese for lunch. Today, Brian has already made our lunches to bring...lean turkey sandwiches...mine with cheese and mayo- his without and hard, fat free pretzels, not soft ones covered in gooey cheese.
We are headed to friends house tonight and brian won't be drinking and tomorrow is my sister-in-law's birthday but he won't be drinking there or having Papa Dells pizza either.
It's a big change for us but it's worth it!

Dee and I are thinking about Brian and your family. Once you get this all sorted out, tell Brian that I'm buying him a case of his favorite beer (assuming that he's allowed to drink beer again).
