My husband's day of service!

Brian's b-day is tomorrow and he wanted to incorporate a service project into it...we are trying to DO more and GIVE more of our time and talents. He wanted to make a meal for the TIMES Center ( the mens homeless shelter he occassionally cooks at in Champaign). I had to work today so he stayed home with the kids and they got cooking- aprons and all!
The menu was baked/glazed ham and mashed potatoes. The kids did what they could and listened to Brian tell them what it was all about too.
One job was to unwrap the butter and get it ready for the potatoes- Amara loved this job!
Then, when I got home from work, we headed into Champaign to deliver the meals- the kids were excited! Especially Alaric. We talked in the car about how you can brighten someone's day just by saying "Hello" and smiling. He was all smiles as we entered the center to drop off the meals. He said hi to everyone he saw and many residents thanked us and smiled back.
What a wonderful way to honor your birthday, Brian! Thanks for sharing it with us!
