Rain Rain Go Away- Happy 4th of July!

We woke up on the 4th to the sound of rain that didn't stop for almost 24 hours. Our tradition is to go into town around noon and have lunch in our parade seats with my parents in Champaign and then take in the amazing C-U parade. Well....what were we to do with the pitter patter of rain?

We decided to cancel our picnic lunch and instead go out to lunch. If after lunch the rain was light, we'd try to go to the parade with our big umbrellas. If it was raining, we'd go home to nap.

I took lots of pics at lunch with the thought that it might be our only 4th events. It was.

When we walked out of the restaurant it was POURING!!! No parade for us ( turns out they canceled the whole thing).


You can see from their faces below they were not happy about just going home to nap-they waved their flags Grammy brought for them anyway.

After everyone took a two hour nap, we decided to head back into town since we had nothing else to do. We went to Kohls and used gift certificates to buy our outfits for our renewal of vows and then we headed to O'Charley's for dinner using gift certificates ( kids eat free everyday). We were home by 7:30, kids down by 8. No fireworks for us. Those were postponed until Sunday night. We had a great weekend however.
