Alaric came home today with a book he made and colored at table time with Mrs. Donovan. On the last page of this book about leaves, it asks how many pennies you could put on a leaf before it sunk in water. So- we decided to try. We got two different leaves from the neighbor's yard ( ours is so incredibly raked up) and we hypothesized what would happen. On the first one, Alaric predicted it would sink with two pennies and sure enough, two was all it took.
For the second penny, he predicted 5...it took 11!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We then put the leaves in again for another try and they both sunk almost immediately- Alaric guessed that the water on the leaves made them heavier and they sunk faster ( smart cookie, I tell ya).
What fun!
